Expert Verdict
Professional reviews and expert opinions on KTM Duke 390
The 2025 KTM Duke 390 represents a significant update to this popular streetfighter, maintaining its position as a leader in the mid-size motorcycle segment. Known for its aggressive styling and impressive performance, the new model introduces several key enhancements that improve its appeal for both urban commuting and long-distance touring.
KTM has established itself as a prominent player in the Indian motorcycle market, with the Duke 390 being one of its most successful models. The 2025 iteration builds upon this success by incorporating new features and aesthetics while retaining its powerful engine and robust build quality.
Design and Color Options
The 2025 KTM Duke 390 retains its aggressive streetfighter design, which has been a hallmark of the series. The new model introduces a fresh color palette, including a striking Ebony Black scheme with vibrant orange accents, alongside the existing Atlantic Blue and Electronic Orange Metallic options. Additionally, a Gunmetal Grey color scheme has been introduced, featuring a matte grey finish on key components like the fuel tank and front fender, complemented by metallic black accents.
Engine and Performance
Mechanically, the 2025 Duke 390 remains unchanged, powered by a 398.63 cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. This engine produces 46 HP of power at 8500 rpm and 39 Nm of torque at 6500 rpm, paired with a six-speed gearbox featuring a bi-directional quickshifter. The engine is renowned for its responsiveness and agility, making the Duke 390 a joy to ride in both urban and highway environments.
Key Features
- Cruise Control: The most significant update for the 2025 model is the introduction of cruise control, borrowed from the KTM 390 Adventure. This feature enhances the bike's touring capabilities by allowing riders to maintain a constant speed without constant throttle input. The cruise control is easily engaged via a dedicated button on the switchgear and can be adjusted using a rocker switch.
- Ride Modes: The Duke 390 offers three ride modes—Rain, Track, and Road—each optimized for different riding conditions. These modes adjust parameters like traction control and ABS to provide the best possible performance and safety.
- Traction Control and ABS: The bike features Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC) and cornering ABS, which are crucial for maintaining stability, especially during aggressive cornering or slippery conditions.
- Instrument Console: The 5-inch TFT display provides essential information like speed, gear position, and navigation. It also supports smartphone connectivity, allowing riders to receive call and SMS alerts and control music playback.
- Suspension: The Duke 390 is equipped with adjustable WP APEX suspension at both ends, offering riders the flexibility to customize the setup based on their riding style or weight.
Safety Features
- Dual-Channel ABS: Ensures safe braking by preventing wheel lock-up.
- Cornering ABS: Provides additional stability during cornering.
- Launch Control: Helps in achieving quick starts without wheel spin.
- Traction Control: Prevents loss of traction during acceleration.
Dimensions and Capacity
- Seat Height: 820 mm, which is relatively high but suitable for most riders.
- Ground Clearance: 183 mm, providing ample clearance for Indian road conditions.
- Fuel Tank Capacity: 15 liters, sufficient for long rides.
- Kerb Weight: 168.3 kg, making it agile and easy to maneuver.
Price and Availability
The 2025 KTM Duke 390 is priced at ?2.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), maintaining its competitive position in the market. The introduction of cruise control and new color schemes might lead to a slight price increase in future updates, but for now, it remains unchanged.
Conclusion
The 2025 KTM Duke 390 is a refined iteration of a successful model, offering a blend of performance, style, and advanced features. With its powerful engine, versatile ride modes, and now, cruise control, it is well-suited for both city rides and long-distance touring. The Duke 390 continues to be a top choice for enthusiasts seeking a fun and capable motorcycle in the mid-size segment.

Thank u for your advice
Hiii friends
I'm 5.5 feet tall can I ride KTM Duke 390 2017
Which have a sheet hight of 830mm , all tho..I have driven KTM RC 390 which have a sheet hight of 820mm but I'm not sure with Duke 390
Plz help me and reply
ktm rc390 is the fastest bike in the segment . But it looses its crown towards ninja 300 in terms of top speed . ninja has a top speed of 190km/hr and rc does 179 ( due to the rev limiter ) . Ninja attains the same speed as rc 390 in 13,000 rpm and rc 390 does it in 10,000 rpm so i think kiirus tuned rc can go beyond 190 km/hr and beat ninja . In malasia they have " power tronic " remaped rc 250's which does 200 km/hr and just guss what will the top speed of 390's . check powertronics malesia
This baby is just awesome... I am a proud owner of this baby Duke...
Duke390 overshadows most of the bikes in its categories. I wont say that its perfect but whatever the problems it has I can live with it.
I will note them down :
1) Tank capacity is small : You can go 200 kms in full tank. (Not an issue. Are many petrol pump within 200 kms)
2) Engine heats up a lot in bumper to bumper traffic. (Not a n issue because any bike of single cylinder with 400 cc will heat up like that until and unless its fully faired )
3) Seat is hard and your AS* will start paining after a while. (You can change the seat to gel based seat and modification is pretty cheap. Even though I like the stock one more)
4) You need to lube your chain in every 500 kms. (That goes same with every performance bike)
5) Millage is very less. (Common man are you looking for performance or milleage. Go buy a Hero Splendor )
If you just leave these few things then you have hell lot of things that you will love about this bike.
I will Note down few :
1) It's 44 bhp crazy machine. (0-60 : 2.3 secs, 0-100 : 5.5 secs)
2) Bosch ABS.
3) Excellent Power to weight ratio. (same as 2012 aston martin vantage v12)
4) Metzeler tyres which stick to road like anything.
5) Upside Down Forks
6) Trellis Frame for better stability.
It has the ability and power to take you that much closer to GOD if you are not careful enough!
Because "Its KTM thing : You won't Understand"
Do look to my channel for Duke390 motovlogs and yes don't forget to subscribe :
bike head lights are very poor comparative to car bus or all four wheelerse .so i sugest that to provide an arrange ment at front to fiix power full torch lights of theire choice for night traveling .
There's no point in comparing one bike with another in last the thing which really matters is which byk makes "U" happy
Ktm great performance with such low cost
Where as ninja nd R3 are priced higher just for the purity of the performance they deliver it's not always about the power or speed
It's all about the quality of ride that the byk gives or which one suites u best
We can't judge others decision :-)
hey everyone can i know whether i can get duke 390 with black rims not the orange
