Recent news and announcements

The Yamaha SZ RR V 2.0 has been discontinued in the Indian market. This bike was known for its fuel efficiency and moderate power, powered by a 149cc single-cylinder Blue Core engine producing 11.9bhp and 12.8Nm of torque. It had a five-speed constant mesh gearbox and was priced at Rs 67,803 (ex-showroom Delhi). I think this discontinuation might be a loss for those looking for a reliable commuter bike.
March 15, 2024
Yamaha is speculated to launch the new SZ-RR 125 in the Indian market by 2025. This bike is expected to feature a 125cc engine, producing around 10 bhp and 9.5 Nm of torque, paired with a five-speed gearbox. It will also come with features like LED lighting, a fully digital meter console with Bluetooth connectivity and GPS, and two riding modes. I believe this could be a strong contender in the commuter segment.

Users of the Yamaha SZ-RR V 2.0 have consistently praised the bike for its durability and performance. One owner mentioned using the bike since 2014 with minimal maintenance and excellent performance. Another user highlighted the bikes refined engine and ease of navigating through traffic. I think these reviews underscore Yamahas reputation for building reliable vehicles.
December 1, 2023

Yamaha has pulled the plug on its 150cc commuter, the SZ RR Version 2.0 in India. The production of the bike has been stopped but it still exists on the company’s website and will continue to be seen until the stocks last with the dealers. The motorcycle was already expected to be discontinued as the manufacturer had skipped updating it with ABS even after the 1 April deadline, post which the government mandated the safety feature in motorcycles over 125cc. After the SZ RR V 2.0 has been discontinued, Yamaha has four motorcycles in its 150cc line-up which includes the YZF R15 V3, MT-15, FZ V3 and FZ S V3.

September 14, 2023
The Yamaha SZ-RR V 2.0 received cosmetic upgrades, including new shrouds on the fuel tank, new paint schemes, and a new SZ logo on the handlebar holder. The bike also features new tubeless tires and an updated instrument cluster. These changes gave the motorcycle a fresh look without altering its core mechanics. I believe these updates helped keep the bike appealing to new buyers.

Vehicle Overview
Yamaha SZ-RR is the most affordable 150cc motorcycle in the company lineup. Not just that, it uses the same engine that is fitted in the Fazer Version 2.0 but carries a different state of tune due to carburettor use. It comes out to be the best option for those who are looking for a refined premium commuter for everyday riding. The engine here is good for 11.9 BHP and 12.8 Nm of torque. The bike weighs just 134 kg and claims a top speed of 105 kmph. The 14 liter fuel tank is very helpful during long journeys while the bike rivals Hero Achiever, Honda Unicorn and Bajaj V15 in its segment.

The Yamaha SZ R is an excellent bike for the mileage conscious rider. It has a good fuel economy with a good pickup and a bold look. I have been using this bike for eight years now and have gone more than 120,000 km on it. In the city, it gives 45 kmpl while on the highway it gives 55 kmpl. The maintenance cost of this bike is much lower than other 150cc segment bikes. The ride is very smooth and the pickup is good.

The Yamaha SZ was an exciting bike when it was launched, but unfortunately its production was stopped after just one and a half years. This has been a source of great frustration for owners of the bike, who are unable to find spare parts for it, making it very difficult to keep the bike in good condition. In terms of mileage, the Yamaha SZ is a 153cc bike, and its mileage is lower than that of the Royal Enfield. This is a major drawback for potential buyers, who are looking for a bike that can provide good mileage.

I love my Yamaha SZ for its perfect combination of power and performance. The bike has great grip on the road, allowing me to feel in control and confident while riding. The mileage is excellent at 45+ km/l, making it a great choice for long drives. I would highly recommend this bike to anyone looking for a reliable and powerful ride. Furthermore, it has a beautiful design and colour scheme that still looks great after 5+ years of use. Additionally, spare parts are easy to find in local markets, making repairs and replacements much more convenient.
