Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

The Suzuki SlingShot 125 is a commendable entry in the 125cc commuter segment, particularly for its comfort, ride quality, and fuel efficiency. While it may not impress with its power output, the bike excels in city riding conditions, thanks to its smooth 5-speed gearbox and ample torque in the low to mid-range RPM. The upright sitting position and comfortable seat make it ideal for daily commutes. However, the lack of disc brakes is a significant drawback, and the braking performance is somewhat disappointing. Despite this, the SlingShots build quality, minimal vibrations, and good fuel economy make it a competent contender in its class. For those prioritizing comfort and practicality over raw power, the Suzuki SlingShot is a solid choice.

Pricing details and changes

The Suzuki SlingShot 125, specifically the Drum variant, was priced competitively in the Indian market before its discontinuation. The ex-showroom price for the 2017 Suzuki SlingShot Plus Drum Self was around Rs 53,635 in Delhi. When considering the on-road price, which includes additional costs such as registration, insurance, and other taxes, the total would have been slightly higher, typically around Rs 60,000 to Rs 65,000 depending on the state and local taxes. While the bike is no longer available for purchase new, its pricing was competitive with other 125cc commuters like the Honda CB Shine and Hero Glamour.

About

General information and overview

The Suzuki SlingShot 125 is a 124cc, single-cylinder commuter motorcycle designed for the Indian market. It is powered by an air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC engine that produces 8.5 HP at 7500 rpm and 10 Nm of torque at 3500 rpm. The engine is mated to a smooth 5-speed gearbox, which is praised for its positive and smooth gear shifts. The bike features a telescopic front suspension and a swing-arm rear suspension, providing a comfortable ride even on rough roads. With a ground clearance of 160 mm and a kerb weight of 129 kg, it handles well in city traffic. The SlingShot also boasts stylish features like split-end 5-spoke alloy wheels and a sharp headlight design. However, it lacks disc brakes, relying on drum brakes at both the front and rear. Despite this, its overall package of comfort, fuel efficiency, and build quality makes it a viable option for those seeking a reliable commuter bike.

slingshot is a very good bike, with decent performance good look, nominal price with good build quality. the bike is underpowered. but for those of u complaining about mileage. there certain restriction on the initial 2000 km ride, for example riding below 45 and without pillion if possible. this things are there for a reason. there plenty of guys on internet, who are using these guidelines and getting the best out if there bike and an average mileage of 60 kmpl.

Suzuki Sling Shot is not at all good. I have purchased it 6 months back and had a very bad experience with it. It frequently stops and there are lot of other problems as well.

I am using Slingshot for abt 8 months ,,, Firsst the advantages are : 1 ) Very Smooth Riding with no vibration even at high speeds (70-80) & the bike can proceed up to 100km/hr 2)good seating arrangement & handlebar comfort for long drives which eliminates backpain completely 3)Ground Clearance too good incase of rainy times in city 4) Less Maintenance & body parts are of good Quality. Disadvantages : 1) Eventhough its a good engine it lacks pulling power mainly due to its self weight 2) Poor Braking incase of solo ride 3) Shock Absorber is very bad & its tiresome to drive in bad roads 4) Mileage nearing only 45km/litre in CIty but suprisingly 62km/hr in outside city. Overall i can comment its good to ride, But Suzuki have to reconsideer the Kerb Weight & Brakes & Shock Absorber to become a best 125cc Commutater,, Good Luck...
