Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 is a versatile and capable motorcycle that excels in its niche as a dual-sport adventure bike. While it may not be a powerhouse with only 24.5 hp, it compensates with its smooth and linear power delivery, particularly in the low-end torque. This bike is ideal for riders who prioritize comfort, ease of handling, and the ability to tackle various road conditions, from urban commuting to off-road adventures. The Himalayans ergonomics are spot on, with a comfortable riding position and well-positioned footpegs, making it suitable for long rides. However, it does have some minor drawbacks, such as vibrations above 80 kmph, soft brakes, and some issues with the electronics and fuel gauge accuracy. Despite these, the Himalayan remains a great value for money, offering a fun and reliable riding experience that is hard to match in its price segment.

RE Himalayan is a popular motorcycle due to its ability to go anywhere while it remains a manageable motorcycle. This has resulted in a large number of fans not only in India but also globally. Royal Enfield has tweaked the motorcycle over the years while remaining true to its roots. Royal Enfield has given the Himalayan subtle updates for 2024 to keep it relevant.

Royal Enfield has introduced three new colour options for the Himalayan for 2024. Also, three colour options have been discontinued by the motorcycle manufacturer. RE will offer Himalayan in Glacier Blue, Pine Green, Gravel Grey, Dune Brown, Granite Black, and Sleet Black colours in 2024. Mirage Silver, Lake Blue, and Rock Red are no longer available. Royal Enfield has also added debossed logos to the motorcycle's grill and side panels.

The Himalayan retains its semi-digital instrument cluster, round headlight, and tinted visor. Also 15-litre fuel tank, split-style seats, rear luggage rack, side-slung exhaust, and wire-spoke wheels. Hard panniers, knuckle guards, touring seats, etc are available as accessories from RE.

The engine specifications are also unchanged. The 2024 Royal Enfield Himalayan uses a BS6-compliant 411cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. It produces a max power of 24.3 hp at 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 to 4,500 rpm. This BS6-compliant motor comes with a five-speed transmission system.

A 41mm telescopic front forks and a 180mm rear mono-shock handles suspension. Front disc brakes are 300mm in diameter, and rear disc brakes are 240mm in diameter.

Besides the colour scheme, Royal Enfield has updated the feature list. The 2024 Royal Enfield Himalaya now has a USB charging port. Royal Enfield could have upgraded the headlight to an LED unit, but they chose not to.

This motorcycle competes with KTM 250 Adventure and Yezdi Adventure in the Indian market.
