Expert opinion and recommendation

The Revolt RV300 represents an interesting proposition in the nascent electric two-wheeler market in India. It's best suited for urban commuters looking for an eco-friendly and cost-effective alternative to traditional petrol-powered motorcycles. The RV300's strengths lie in its zero-emission operation, low running costs, and modern features like app connectivity. However, potential buyers should be aware of its limitations. The range, while sufficient for city use, may not be adequate for longer trips. Charging infrastructure in India is still developing, which could be a concern for some users. The higher upfront cost compared to conventional motorcycles might also be a deterrent for budget-conscious buyers. Despite being discontinued, the RV300 could still be an attractive option in the second-hand market for those wanting to experience electric mobility without the full price tag of a new model. Its low maintenance requirements and potential savings on fuel costs over time could

RattanIndia Enterprises Ltd has completed the acquisition of Revolt Motors, making it a 100% subsidiary. This move is expected to scale up Revolts growth and expand its market presence. Revolt Motors, known for its RV300 and RV400 models, has been a leader in the electric motorcycle segment in India. I believe this acquisition will provide Revolt with the resources it needs to innovate and expand its product range.

Revolt Motors has increased the prices of its RV300 electric motorcycle in India by Rs. 10,000. This price revision is part of the companys recent adjustments to its product lineup. The new prices reflect changes in market conditions and production costs. I think this increase might affect the affordability of the bike for some buyers, but its a necessary step for the company to maintain its profitability.

Revolt Motors has reopened bookings for its electric motorcycles, including the RV300, across several cities in India. The company has seen a robust demand for its bikes, especially with the rising petrol prices making electric vehicles more attractive. The RV300, with its cost-effective running cost of Rs 9 per 100 km, is a popular choice among eco-conscious buyers. I think this move will help Revolt tap into the growing demand for electric vehicles in the country.

The Indian governments decision to waive off registration charges for electric vehicles has made Revolts RV300 more affordable for customers. This policy change, along with other subsidies, has helped reduce the overall cost of owning an electric bike. I believe this will significantly boost the sales of the RV300 and other electric motorcycles in India.

Revolt Motors has been working on enhancing its localisation, achieving around 70% local content in its electric motorcycles, including the RV300. This move is part of the companys strategy to reduce dependence on imported components and make its products more competitive in the Indian market. I think this is a positive step towards making electric vehicles more sustainable and cost-effective in the long run.

Pricing details and changes

The Revolt RV300 was originally priced at Rs. 94,999 for the base model (ex-showroom). On-road prices varied depending on the city due to different state taxes and registration fees. For instance, the on-road price in Hyderabad was approximately Rs.1,05,663. In Delhi, the on-road price would have been slightly higher due to different tax structures. Having not heard of the Revolt RV300, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. An affordable, fun electric bike? It sounded like a tall order.

Revolt RV300: My Personal Take

Having not heard of the Revolt RV300, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. An affordable, fun electric bike? It sounded like a tall order. However, when I actually saw it and took it for a spin, I realized it wasn’t just hype. The RV300 isn’t trying to be a flashy, obnoxiously expensive machine. It’s just…here…to change how we think about commuting. Honest to God, it made me reconsider my declaration of love for roaring engines.

What Makes the Revolt RV300 Unique?

First on my list was the design. At just under four feet in length, it’s small but not boring, thanks to sharp lines and a clean, modern design. Those LED headlights? Though it may scream futuristic, it’s done so without going over the top. It’s a bike you’d expect to see in a sci fi movie but it’s those kinds of bikes that belong on the street.

At the same time, what stood really out about it was how unassuming it really was. It doesn't announce itself loud like an overblown sports bike, either. It hums along quietly confident. I should have been thrown by the silence at first—no growl of a petrol engine. Riding I enjoyed the calm, but. It has nothing to prove, the bike just does its job effortlessly.

Performance That Surprised Me

Let’s dive into the crux of the RV300 – its performance. The bike has a 1.5 kW motor, which might seem paltry, but zip through city streets it will. I loved the instant torque most, the first instant torque I've felt on a motorcycle. No waiting. No delays—just twist the throttle and your off.

I tested all three riding modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport. Eco Mode felt like enjoying a slow stroll at 25 km/h, with the range heavily maximized. Much as normal mode was perfect for everyday city rides cruising at 45 km per hour were comfortable. Sport mode? That’s where the fun began. At 65km/h this is not “fast” sports bike speed, but that’s not “slow” by sport bike standards and it was sprightly and fun for little spurts on the bike.

Sport mode was really where the RV300 shone for me. They handled traffic like a pro, and I didn’t feel like I was having to fudge on performance for getting an electric.

Range and Charging: The Real-World Numbers

The range of an electric bike is one of its biggest concerns and I admit that while I was worried about running out of juice on the ride. The RV300 put those fears to rest, though. In eco mode I got 140 km out of one charge and that was just fine for my daily rides. That’s still solid for city use, as in Normal mode the range dipped a little closer to 100 km.

It all seemed to charge without much fuss. Directly into a standard socket, or without removing the battery, you can charge the bike. Unlike the old Lithium Ion, the battery will charge fully within about 4.2 hours, giving you enough time to plug it in overnight and wake up to a full one—ok, I meant full battery.

Comfort and Ride Quality

On bumpy city road tho, the RV300 feels comfortable. Potholes and uneven patches are coped with surprisingly well by the suspension, which consists of a telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. It’s not super soft, but it’s not so stiff that you feel every single bump.

Those who rode long crept into an upright seating position. It’s not overly firm as a seat, but lavish enough for both the rider and one pillion. It’s not plush, but I wouldn’t call it bad either — it’s fine for dry days on the commute or a quick weekend ride.

Things That Make a Difference

The RV300 is full of thoughtful features from Revolt. The LED instrument cluster is a big thing that is bright and easy to read, displaying speed, battery status and range. It also has a keyless start, which felt like a neat little upgrade.

Then there’s the Revolt app. For me, this was a game changer. You can always monitor bike’s location, battery level and even adjust the bike’s sound. If you want you can make this silent machine sound like petrol bike. I think the silence is nice, personally, but it’s nice to have it an option.

Price and Value

The RV300 feels like a steal at a price of **?1, 10,000.** After you calculate what you’ll save on fuel and maintenance, it makes even more sense. That's because there are fewer moving parts on electric bikes. The savings are quickly adding up for someone who rides daily.

My Honest Thoughts

The Revolt RV300 is not here to compete with high performance petrol bikes, and that’s not the point. It’s here to clean, quiet and simplify everyday commuting and it does so beautifully.

Riding the RV300 felt like stepping into the future for me. That’s not about being green, it’s about having a smooth , effortless ride. It’s not as fast or loud as a bike, but it’s just what a city needs.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely. If you’re on the market for a practical, stylish, and eco friendly bike, then the RV300 is one to consider.
