Expert opinion and recommendation

The Mahindra Duro 125 DZ is a mixed bag when it comes to overall performance and user experience. On the positive side, it offers a comfortable ride, even for taller riders, and has ample space for carrying heavy loads, making it a good option for those who need a scooter for both daily commuting and occasional heavy-duty use. The scooter also boasts good torque and fuel economy, with many users reporting mileage in the range of 43-45 kmpl. However, there are significant reliability concerns, with frequent issues such as noisy engines, starting problems, and various mechanical failures over time. The front suspension has also been a point of contention, although some users have noted improvements with the Duro DZ model. Despite these issues, the low service costs and smooth riding quality make it a viable option for those on a budget. However, potential buyers should be aware of the potential for frequent repairs and maintenance.

Latest Updates

Recent news and announcements

The Mahindra Duro 125 DZ has been discontinued in the Indian market, marking the end of an era for this reliable and affordable scooter. The decision is likely due to declining sales and the rise of more feature-rich competitors. I think this move will pave the way for newer, more advanced models from Mahindra.

Mahindra recently updated the Duro 125DX with several significant changes, although the DZ variant did not receive these upgrades. The new features include a digital dual-curve ignition, advanced telescopic forks, and a raised handlebar, which have improved the overall riding experience. I believe these updates would have been beneficial for the DZ as well.
October 15, 2024
The Mahindra Duro 125 DZ was known for its practical design, featuring a glove box behind the handlebar, a six-litre fuel tank, and underseat storage. These utility-focused features made it a favorite among commuters looking for a no-frills, reliable scooter. I think the storage options were one of its strongest selling points.

In terms of performance, the Mahindra Duro 125 DZ was powered by a 124.6cc, four-stroke engine that produced 8 bhp of power and 9 Nm of torque. This engine allowed the scooter to reach speeds of up to 80 km/h, making it suitable for urban commuting. I think the engine was robust enough for daily use.
August 25, 2024
The Mahindra Duro 125 DZ had a mileage of approximately 38 kmpl, which was quite efficient for its time. This fuel efficiency was a major draw for budget-conscious buyers who needed a reliable and economical scooter. I believe the mileage was one of its key selling points.

The Mahindra Duro 125 DZ is powered by a 125cc engine that produces 8.04bhp at 7000 rpm and 9 Nm of torque at 5500 rpm, making it adequate for city riding and capable of handling heavy loads. The scooter features a comfortable seat and good lighting, which are particularly appreciated by users who have taken it on long tours. Hello....

The story was started in August, 2013.

I was searching for a good scooter of indian made in the month of August, 2013.

After enquiring with many of my colleagues, i have bought The Mahindra Duro DZ (White), even every one suggested me to buy Honda Activa.

My argument was to be an indian and buy an indian made by indian.....I was very happy at that time thinking i have given my best to boost indian economy in this way...

And today after 613 Days (1 year, 8 months, 5 days)... I simply searching for a good scooter.. again...may be this time I will go with Italian.

The Pros....
Powerful engine, good pickup, leg room to keep baggage...

The cons are..
1. Poor service by the dealer...they never bothered to inform service due dates..because of which my third service missed which turn lasted the warranty.
2. Poor mileage.. i think it will be around 30 only...every week i used to fill the tank...
3. From the day one... my right mirror was not properly adjusted...everytime tilts on the way..
4. Cap for the petrol tank had a crack a year back...till date they dont have one to replace...
5. Brakes...loose...need attention on weekly basis...
6. The dealer who sold it to me was disappered all of a sudden..the show room and service center was closed, but company not bothered to inform the same...due to which missed the third service...
7. To find another service point...it's night mare to me..
8. The other service point.. who serviced me the fourth service did not do it well.. resulted in leakage of engine oil..which was ignored by me...resulted in death of the engine...
9. And now the status is .. it is still in service point for repair...
10. The twist is that i have bought it for INR 53000 and the current price offered by the service point is just INR 5,000/-

Mahindra scooters doesnt have resale value...even this was accepted by the Executive Mr. Ganesh, Avani Automotives, SR Nagar, Hyderabad, Telangana, where it was given for service purpose.....

This is my story and experience with my indian scooter Mahindra Duro DZ....T H E E N D...
