Expert Verdict
Professional reviews and expert opinions on Bajaj Pulsar 150
Bajaj Pulsar 150 has been around for nearly two decades and is still one of the most popular Bajaj bikes on the market. Bajaj Pulsar 150 continues to exist in the BS6 era, with a new fuel-injected engine to meet stringent emission standards. There are no cosmetic changes other than a blanked-out headlamp switch and a new set of graphics. Rim tapes can also be seen if you look closely. Apart from that, there is nothing that distinguishes it from any previous Pulsar model.
Overview
Bajaj Pulsar 150 has been around for nearly two decades and is still one of the most popular Bajaj bikes on the market. Bajaj Pulsar 150 continues to exist in the BS6 era, with a new fuel-injected engine to meet stringent emission standards. There are no cosmetic changes other than a blanked-out headlamp switch and a new set of graphics. Rim tapes can also be seen if you look closely. Apart from that, there is nothing that distinguishes it from any previous Pulsar model.
Despite its age, Bajaj Pulsar 150 is one of India’s best-selling street racers. A combination of muscular design, value for money, and good fuel efficiency make Pulsar 150 an extremely popular 2-wheeler in the market. Bajaj Pulsar 150 is a motorcycle that has grown from 125cc to 220cc and is popular among people of all ages. Bajaj Pulsar 150 have gone through numerous changes over the years and holds its own against its competitors.
Bajaj Pulsar 150 Design and Style
2024 Bajaj Pulsar 150 retains the design language of the previous model with minor changes. The revised bodywork, new dual-tone colour schemes, and aggressive stance give the new Pulsar 150 a meaner appearance. It has a halogen headlamp with AHO for improved visibility regardless of weather or light conditions. It has twin pilot lights, larger telescopic forks, and a small windscreen to improve aerodynamics. The graphics on the fuel tank, front fender, and other body panels add a sporty look to the bike.
The wheelbase and ground clearance are quite impressive. The design features the same halogen headlamp with the mini-visor and a rear end with a vertical-split LED tail lamp. The side-mounted exhaust features a chrome-finished crash/heat shield and six-spoke blacked-out alloy wheels. Graphics for the bike's tank shrouds and a fender on the front wheel. The pillion grab-rail is also distinctive, with a substantial chrome treatment on both sides. There's also an eye-catching headlamp graphic and a rear-panel sticker. The Neon variant lacks these graphics and is more minimalist in terms of design.
Bajaj Pulsar 150 Engine and Gearbox
A 149cc, 4-stroke, twin-spark DTS-i engine mated with 5-speed transmission powers the new Pulsar 150. At 8500 rpm, the BS6 motor produces 14 HP of max power and a peak torque of 13.2 Nm at 6500 rpm. The engine has been refined and Bajaj claims to have made significant improvements in NVH, resulting in a smoother vibration-free ride.
The air-cooled, single-cylinder engine provides good overall performance and superior refinement. The Pulsar 150 revs higher with a smooth-shifting gearbox and has a punchy mid-range for city riding. The Pulsar 150 falls short on the highway, lacking a similar punch and exhibiting higher vibrations at higher RPMs.
Bajaj Pulsar 150 Suspension, Brakes and Tyres
The front anti-friction bush on the Bajaj Pulsar 150 can be adjusted in five different ways. The Nitrox shock absorber is installed in the rear. This improves the riding experience, particularly with the 31mm front fork and the twin shock rear absorber with its gas-filled canister. For the twin-disc version, there is a front telescopic 37mm fork and a rear twin-shock absorber.
2024 Bajaj Pulsar 150 gets 17-inch tyres with varying widths and the front brake size has 260/130 mm disc/drum brakes while the 150 version comes with 260 mm ABS/130 mm disc and drum brakes. The top-end 150 twin-disc brake version comes with a front 280 mm disc and a rear 230 mm disc alongside. The Pulsar 150 comes with a double-cradle frame which handles superior weight distribution at the same time. This is not a bike to be tightly flung around corners as it lacks the required stability in certain scenarios.
Key Features of Bajaj Pulsar 150
2024 Bajaj Pulsar 150 is packed with features such as a smoked windscreen, clip-on handlebars, wolf-eyed pilot lights, a digital-analogue instrument cluster, a carbon fibre texture on the instrument cluster, and the signature LED tail lamp at the back end.
It comes with the disc brake setup, telescopic forks, 5-way adjustable Nitrox shock absorbers, a 15-litre fuel tank, alloy wheels, tubeless tyres, and a single-piece seat.
Top Speed and Mileage of Bajaj Pulsar 150
The top speed of new Bajaj Pulsar 150 is 115 km/h (real top speed figure) and the mileage is 50 to 60 km/l (approximate). Bajaj Pulsar 150 is a street motorcycle. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in 5.6 seconds and 0 to 100 km/h in around 16 seconds.
Bajaj Pulsar 150 Variants, Colour Options and Price
Bajaj offers new Pulsar 150 in three variants: Pulsar 150 Neon, Pulsar 150 SD, and Pulsar 150 TD. Bajaj Pulsar 150 Neon is available in Lime Green, Red, and Silver colours and costs Rs 1,04,448 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Bajaj Pulsar 150 SD is available in Sparkle Black Red, Sparkle Black Blue, and Sparkle Black Silver colour options and costs Rs 1,11,174 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Bajaj Pulsar 150 TD comes in Sparkle Black Red, Sapphire Black Blue, and Sparkle Black Silver colours and is available at Rs 1,14,176 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Bajaj Pulsar 150 Competitors
Bajaj Pulsar NS160, Hero Xtreme 160R, Honda Unicorn 160, Suzuki Gixxer 150, TVS Apache RTR 160, and Yamaha FZ V3 are some of the similar bikes that rival Bajaj Pulsar 150 in the Indian market.
Conclusion
2024 Bajaj Pulsar 150 is a high-performance motorcycle in the 150cc class. The motorcycle's prominent features are its sporty styling and dependable engine. Although the styling appears dated, the overall package is quite impressive for the low price. Bajaj has been selling the Pulsar 150 for over a decade, demonstrating the motorcycle's success in the Indian market.
The new Pulsar 150 is available in several variants and is a dependable and practical option for buyers. The design and styling are appealing, while the feature list could have been improved but is otherwise adequate. Pricing is also competitive, and mileage is adequate, making a compelling case for itself.
