Yamaha released a 60th Anniversary Special Edition of the R1 in 2016, featuring iconic yellow-and-black graphics inspired by Yamahas racing heritage. This special edition was showcased on Yamahas UK site, although there was no confirmation if it would be available in the US market. I think this edition is a great tribute to Yamahas history and would be a fantastic addition to any bike collection.

One of the drawbacks of the 2016 Yamaha R1 is its fuel consumption, which remains high regardless of the riding mode selected. The bike also has a small fuel tank, which can be inconvenient for long rides. Additionally, the stock exhaust sound is not very impressive, especially at low revs. I think these are minor issues compared to the bikes overall performance.

It produces a maximum power of 197.2 BHP and 112.4 Nm of torque. The strict rivals of the motorcycle include Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, Suzuki GSX-R1000 and Honda CBR1000RR. Others with capacity around 1000cc, namely Aprilia RSV4 and BMW S1000RR also compete against Yamaha YZF-R1.
