The new BMW R 12 platform has been expanded to include a cruiser model, alongside the R 12 nineT. The R 12 cruiser uses the same 1,170 cc air- and oil-cooled boxer engine but is down-tuned to 95 hp at 6,500 rpm and 110 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. The bike features a new tubular steel main frame, alloy wheels, and twin radially-mounted four-piston brake calipers. I think BMWs attempt to enter the cruiser market with this model is intriguing, but it remains to be seen how it will be received.

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the new 2024 BMW R 1300 GS, featuring a completely new boxer engine with 145 hp at 7,750 rpm and 110 lb-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm. This engine is the most powerful BMW boxer engine ever produced in series. The bike also boasts a new frame design, improved suspension, and a weight reduction of 26 lbs. compared to the previous model. I think this significant upgrade will make the R 1300 GS a top contender in the adventure bike segment.
