Mini has launched the all new face-lift of 3-door and 5-door Copper in the month of November, 2014 in India. The Cooper looks better and bigger in every aspect. The idea behind this third generation hatchback is to manage the heritage style of Mini on a larger canvas. Let's see what Mini Copper has packed under the hood.

Exterior

Mini Cooper 3-door looks larger than its predecessor and is designed on the UKL high strength steel platform. The Mini carries an upright cabin, squat stance and a wider track than before. The look of car is enchanted by the clam-shell bonnet, hexagonal grille, round headlights, LED tail lights, floating roof, upright wide screen and a continuous band of chrome accents at the base. The precise lines present on the sides gives it a muscular profile. The nose of Mini Cooper is an odd mismatch of shapes, horizontal elements and shut lines while the rear lights focuses on retaining the basic shape of the outgoing Mini.

Interior

The 3-door Cooper has got classy and spacious interiors with the nicely bolstered seats. It comes featured with an AC with automatic climate control, 6-speaker audio system with CD player, Bluetooth, USB interface, AM/FM Radio, MP3 Playback and an auxiliary input. The tilt and telescopic steering wheel comes mounted with the major controls for the user's comfort. Optional features includes a head-up display, a rear view camera, both side electric door mirrors, park distance control, remote central locking, electric driver seat adjustment and leather upholstery.

Dimensions and Fuel Tank Capacity

The hatchback comes with a length of 3921 mm, width of 1727 mm and a height of 1414 mm as its dimensions. The fuel tank has a capacity of 40-litres and boot space of 211-litres which is quite good.

Engine and Gearbox

The 3-door Mini Cooper comes with both diesel as well as petrol engine options. The 1.5L, three cylinder, 4-valve, DOHC diesel engine kicks out a peak power of 114 Bhp at 4000 rpm with utmost torque of 270 Nm made at 1750 rpm. The engine is coupled to a six-speed automatic gearbox which gives it an amazing power.

Acceleration and Performance

This hatchback offers a high performance on road along with a top speed of 200 kmph for Copper D and 233 kmph for the Copper S variant. The Copper D and S can accelerate up to 0-100 kmph in just 9.2 and 6.7 seconds respectively. The engine is designed with innovative technologies in order to reduce the noise ratio. It gives you high output with low fuel consumption.

Brakes and Suspension

The Cooper has the wonderful braking characteristics with disc brakes at all the four wheels which makes the braking system strong and effective. The suspension duties are handled by multiple control-arm rear axle at the front and single joint spring-strut front axle at the rear.

Ride and Handling

It’s a great pleasure to drive this stunning hatchback. The Cooper's steering is responsive and holds the roads with confidence, especially around curves. The increased wheel base and high ground clearance makes it easy to handle almost everywhere. The ride is firm and the cabin is quiet.

Safety Features

The Mini Copper is provided with six airbags, parking sensors, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), electronic stability program (ESP), brake assist, engine immobiliser and fog lamps, all for the safety of driver as well as passengers.
