The Maruti Vitara Brezza Diesel LDi (O) is a solid choice in the sub-4 meter compact SUV segment, but it comes with its set of compromises. I appreciate its well-mannered suspension, which, although a bit stiff, handles bumps and potholes reasonably well, especially at higher speeds. The 1.3-litre diesel engine is quick and fuel-efficient, though it does suffer from some turbo-lag below 2,000 rpm. The cabin is spacious and comfortable, with ample storage and a powerful air-conditioning system. However, the interior quality is not the best, with ordinary plastics and a lack of premium feel. Safety features are commendable, with a driver airbag as standard and the option for a passenger airbag, ABS with EBD, and pre-tensioner force limiter seatbelts. Overall, its an all-rounder that does most things well but doesnt excel in any single area.
