Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback is available in India with K-series petrol engine and DDiS diesel engine. The K-series petrol engine makes 1197cc of displacement. The power generated by this VVT engine is 86bhp at 6000rpm. The maximum torque produced is 114Nm at 4000rpm. This 1.2-liter petrol engine is mated with 5-speed manual transmission that takes this hatchback to a top speed of 155kmph. It has an average mileage of 18kmpl (on highways) and 12kmpl (in city).

The displacement produced by Swift with DDiS diesel engine is 1248cc. This 1.3-liter diesel engine generates power of 74bhp at 4000rpm and the maximum torque produced is 190Nm at 2000rpm. The average mileage of diesel engine Swift is 23kmpl (on highways) and 18kmpl (in city). This hatchback offers the minimum ground clearance of 170mm and boot space of 204liters. The kerb weight of Swift with petrol engine is 960kg, Swift diesel is 1050kg and Swift petrol with Automatic transmission is 990kg. It has electrical powered steering wheel that makes the minimum turning radius of 4.8meters. This hatchback measures 3850mm in length, 1695mm in width, 1530mm in height and a wheelbase of 2430mm. The McPherson strut with coil spring is used as the front suspension and the torsion beam with coil spring is used as the rear suspension. All the windows are electrically powered and supports auto up/down feature. The fuel filler and boot are remote controlled for the convenience. The dashboard integrated music system can play MP3, AM/FM and also supports auxiliary inputs.

The steering wheel has mounted control of music system. The ORVMs have mounted side turn indicators. The bumpers and ORVMs have the same color as the body of the hatchback itself. The instrument cluster included in the car consists of dual trip meter, speedometer and tachometer. The standard size of tires used in this hatchback is 185/65 R15 with 15-inch alloys. Maruti is offering Swift with a warranty of 2years/40,000kms. The shades available in Swift are Blazing Red, Torque Blue, Silky Silver, Arctic White, Glistering Grey and Midnight Black. This hatchback has got good looks, high mileage and a powerful engine but its basic variants lack the security features as well as the boot space.
