One of the underlining and significant holidays in the Hindu culture is Durga Ashtami. It is also known as the end day of the Navratri season. Further, Durga Ashtami is considered a Pan-India event.
It is celebrated for around 9 days and 9 nights, especially in West Bengal. This auspicious occasion falls in the holy month of Ashwin according to the Hindu calendar. These months are called September or October as per the English calendar. It is also a well-recognized event not only in the Indian region but also in the neighbouring countries.
Additionally, the Durga Pooja’s ceremonies take place and last for around 10 days. Here, the first and the last five days are stamped as Public Holidays in various Indian states, such as West Bengal and Odisha. Also, the festival denotes the sacred win of Goddess Durga over the bad power-holding Mahishasura who was a terrible monster of his times.
