Tata Motors Unveils Ace EV With A Claimed 154 km Range

Tata Motors first launched the Ace in 2005 revolutionising the logistics in the country and now they are going to step further into the electric zone by introducing the electric version of the commercial vehicle. ‘Chota Hathi’ is a very successful vehicle in the market, a bestseller in the commercial segment with a 70% of market share. It was already available in petrol, diesel and CNG, now Tata is set for an electrifying addition with the Ace EV.

In the untapped commercial EV space, Tata will bet on the Ace brand to explore the opportunity at hand. At an event, Tata Motors officially announced the new Ace EV cargo vehicle. It is largely the same in terms of the design as the existing fossil fuel-driven variants. There is a dedicated EV branding on the front and the sides, the battery pack is fitted to the underbelly and the cover also has the EV graphics.

Ace EV is their first product to be based on the EVOGEN powertrain offering the claimed range of 154 km. It is going to be powered by a 21.3 kWh battery which will produce a maximum output of 36 bhp and 130 Nm. Ace EV will be installed with an advanced battery cooling system and regenerative braking system to enhance the driving range.

Tata Motors has also revealed the signing of MoU with the leading e-commerce companies and logistics service providers like Amazon, BigBasket, City Link, DOT, Flipkart, LetsTransport, and Yelo EV. Tata will deliver 39,000 units under this treaty and will also set up dedicated EV support centres.

They did not release the official price for the EV yet, but we could estimate it to be around Rs 6-7 lakh, given that the current range starts at Rs 4 lakh and goes up to Rs 6 lakh. With growing awareness and push from the government, Tata Ace EV could emerge successful in the commercial vehicle segment, leading the market towards a cleaner way of transportation.
