Bajaj Chetak electric scooter has been recently launched in India at a starting price tag of INR 1 lakh for the base Urbane variant while the price tag for the higher-spec premium variant goes all the way up to INR 1.15 lakhs (ex-showroom). The deliveries of both the variants were expected to commence in February while as per the latest buzz, the Chetak Urbane customers will have to wait longer than that.
According to recent reports, the brand will only commence the deliveries of Chetakβs Premium variant from next month while the deliveries for the base Urbane variant will commence in May 2020.
The brand is currently focusing on streamlining its production while commencing the deliveries of its flagship Premium variant only. The delay in starting the deliveries for the base variant will allow the brand with buffer time to expand its dealerships across several other cities and offer the entry-level scooter variant at a later stage.
At present, the Chetak electric scooter is only available in Pune and Bengaluru at the select KTM dealerships. The brand will be offering their debutant e-scooter with a complimentary charger in addition to offering a 3-year/50,000 km warranty with every purchase.
Powering the Bajaj Chetak is a 4kW BLDC motor that is mated to an IP67-rated Li-ion battery and is capable of generating maximum power of 5.47HP and a peak torque of 16Nm. The Chetak Premium variant will be available to the customers in Velluto Rosso, Indigo Metallic, Hazelnut, and Brooklyn Black colour variants while the Chetak Urbane will be available in Citrus Rush and Cyber White colour variants.
The Premium model of the scooter has been equipped with a front disc brake setup while the base variant features a drum brake at the front. The Premium variant of the e-scooter features chrome-plated bezels, Slate grey or Satin black alloy wheels while the Urbane variant has been equipped with chrome painted bezels on the body panels as well as matte black alloy wheels setup.
