Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. has announced a new Furio range of intermediate commercial vehicles. This announcement has ensured that the company’s presence in the commercial vehicle space will increase from it being a minor part of the market to a full range CV player. The aim of the company is to become the rank second in the Indian commercial vehicle sector.
The Furio range of trucks is a first from the company and they will be deployed to carry fruits, vegetables, parcels, and other goods. The cabin of the trucks has been designed by the Italian design house Pininfarina. The Furio trucks have been positioned below the Blazo range from the company and will take on the competition offered by Eicher and Tata Motors.
The CEO of the Mahindra Truck and Bus and Construction Equipment Divisions, Vinod Sahay, said, "Indian ICV customers have been longing for a truck which can deliver higher earnings, lower operating costs, better safety, improved ergonomics, a comfortable ride and most importantly a world-class ownership experience, as an ideal package. Our new FURIO range is built precisely around these elements and we are confident that it will soon be a preferred choice for ICV customers. At Mahindra Truck and Bus Division we have revamped our portfolio and offered assurances to our customers which in turn have enabled us to outpace the market growth. Going forward we are poised to redefine the way business is done in the ICV category and hope to have a significant share of that segment."
The company has invested INR 600 crore into the development of the Furio range over the last four years. It will comprise of a total of 21 trucks, 4 of which were unveiled on Tuesday. Seven trucks will be unveiled before the BS VI regulations kick in and the rest will follow soon after.
