2022 Aprilia SR 160 Spotted; Gets LED Headlight and a Digital Instrument Console

Aprilia India is ready to update its current lineup by adding an updated model of the SR 160. Recently, the forthcoming scooter was spotted undisguised, implying its imminent launch. It was spotted at a dealer yard in Bengaluru and was in showroom-ready form. This is the second time the facelifted SR 160 has been spied in recent weeks, the first time in an unmasked form.

However, the upgrade is anticipated to be solely aesthetic in nature, with no changes in specs. Although minor, the nature of the upgrades is evident. For example, the new 2022 Aprilia SR 160 features new body artwork that gives the scooter a modern look.

Among the other changes is the installation of a single-piece pillion grab rail, as opposed to separate grab rails on the previous model. It also features a redesigned V-shaped single-beam LED headlight cluster rather than the present SR 160’s dual-beam unit. On both sides of the headlamp, there are slim LED DRLs.

The front apron styling has been updated as well, with new creases on the side fairings. Moreover, the scooter is now equipped with an all-digital instrument console which is similar to the one we have seen on the brand's SXR160.

In addition, the SR 160 retains the same set of turn indicators situated on the sides of the handlebar. The new SR 160 will be driven by the same 160cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that produces 10.8 bhp at 7600rpm and 11.6 Nm at 6000rpm. This engine is mated to a CVT automatic transmission.

Front suspension is handled by 30mm telescopic forks, with a mono-shock at the back. Anchorage is offered by a 220mm disc in the front and a 140mm drum at the back, both of which are supported by a single-channel ABS unit as standard.

In terms of pricing, the 2022 Aprilia SR 160 is expected to get an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 1.20 lakhs.
