Overview

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is a SUV that was launched by Mitsubishi Motors on March 12, 2012. The new Pajero is built on Triton pick-up truck platform and its price is little above the head of Indian customers. The exterior of this SUV gives the most stylish yet conventional look with vertical bar-like front chrome grille flanked by beautiful clear lens headlamps, shining Mitsubishi logo between the two halves of divided front grille, chrome finished outer door handles, tight haunches, front uncluttered headlamps above the round fog lights, elegant silver front skid plate, chrome plated power door mirrors and rear license plate, discontinuous rear wiper-cum-washer, beautiful high mounted rear stop lamp, illuminated ignition key cylinder, black roof rails, sidesteps for every door, 17-inch light alloy wheels with front and rear mudguards and gorgeous Alfa Romeo-esque tail lamps.

It has 4695mm of length, 1815mm of width, 1840mm of height and 2800mm of wheelbase as its dimension. The interior of this SUV also provides utmost luxury with vast space, multi-mode central display with information about time, date, temperature, fuel info and music, 2 DIN touch screen stereo with six powerful speakers and two tweeters, CD and MP3 player, radio and USB port, electrically adjustable leather covered seats, powerful AC with Automatic Climate Control System and rear AC vents, sporty black and beige dual color scheme, tilt-able steering with audio and cruise controls, quality plastic finishing and leather upholstery. The list for comfort features in Pajero Sport is very long with accessory socket, vanity mirror with lid for sun visors, front room lamp with map lamps, door courtesy lamps on every door, windshield sunshade and rear parking sensors.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has a powerful 2477cc 2.5L 16valve inter-cooled turbocharged DOHC Common rail DI-D (4D56) diesel engine which screams a maximum power of 176 bhp at 4000 rpm and a maximum torque of 400 Nm at 2000-2500 rpm and has a five speed manual gearbox with features like VGT (Variable Geometry Turbo) for optimum power at better fuel efficiency and super select 4WD system. It reaches 0-100 kmph mark in 15.5 seconds and has a top speed of 190 kmph. Pajero Sport has an average mileage of 11 kmpl (6.5 kmpl in the cities and 10.5 kmpl on the highways) with the fuel tank capacity of 70 litres.

As far as safety of the passengers is concerned, Pajero Sport has ABS with EBD, dual front SRS Airbags, three point ELR seat-belts, high tensile steel as SUV's building material, powerful brakes with vacuum booster, rear parking sensors, rear wiper and rear defogger. It has ventilated disk brakes at front and ventilated drum-in-disk brakes at rear. The suspension of Pajero Sport includes a double-wishbone with coil springs at front and 3-link coil spring at rear. It has a ground clearance of 215mm and minimum turning radius of 5.6m.

Pajero Sport is available in only one variant in India which is Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 4x4. It has five beautiful shades which are Earth Brown, Keberg Silver, Himalayan White, Pure Black and Storm Grey. It has a price of around INR 22-23 lakhs (approx., may vary). Overall, this SUV is a complete package of superfluous performance, luxury, classy interiors, speed and space but has many disadvantages in Indian market such as its high price, non-availability of automatic variant and less number of Mitsubishi dealerships in India.
