MG has introduced two battery options for the 2025 MG4—42.8 kWh and 53.9 kWh lithium iron phosphate packs—offering a range of up to 530 km on the CLTC cycle. Fast charging from 30 to 80% takes about 20 minutes, making it practical for urban use. I think this fast-charging capability will suit India’s emerging EV infrastructure quite well.

Pre-sales of the new MG4 have started in China with prices starting at around US$10,270. The car features a 120 kW motor and a top speed of 160 km/h. With such competitive specs and pricing, MG could set a strong benchmark for compact EVs in India’s cost-sensitive market.

MG has confirmed that the MG 4 facelift available in China wont be identical for the Indian market; India’s version is expected to retain much of the current styling but gain a larger 12.8-inch infotainment screen and minor tech improvements. Its a balanced approach that avoids overcomplicating matters while enhancing user experience.

Rumors suggest MG might introduce a budget electric model below the MG4 in India by early 2026 to compete with cars like the BYD Dolphin and Citroen e-C3. I think launching a smaller sibling could help MG gain volume and appeal to even more Indian buyers exploring affordable EV options.
