Mercedes GLC

Finally, Mercedes-Benz has come up with its luxury SUV bridging the gap between the GLA and GLE. The all new Mercedes-Benz GLC has been launched in two variants in India- GLC 220d priced at Rs 50.70 lakh, and the GLC 300 petrol priced at Rs 50.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune).

The GLC is the face-lifted version of the GLK-Class and has derived its styling from the C-Class sedan. If you are looking for luxury combined with looks then GLC is perfect for you.

Exterior

The GLC's styling is based on the Mercedes' new design theme. The upfront of the GLC including lines, avant-garde grill and its curves is similar to the entry-level GLA. The side profile reflects a contemporary style due to the curvy outlook and flared wheel arches which resemble the old GLK. The back view again resembles a lot with smaller GLA but has got new tailgate and wider taillights. The front has a twin-slat grille along with faux skid plate with chrome finishing.

Dimensions and Weight

The GLC has an exciting overall length, width and height of 4656 mm, 1890 mm and 1639 mm respectively. It has got a wheelbase of 2873 mm and kerb weight of 1954 kg whereas its gross vehicle weight is 2505 kg.

Interior

The GLC has classy interiors with premium cabin of superior quality. The big wooden centre console along with the chromed vents, stylish dash, metal-finish buttons, plush door-pads add to its incredibility. The luxury car offers you only a seven-inch infotainment screen which is quite small for this segment.

The seats are large with the front seats having a squab and long back rest for proper support. The rear seats are cushioned to provide you enough comfort along with good headroom and legroom. The boot space is again quite impressive and can handle 580 litres of luggage. It can even be expanded by flipping down the powered seat backs (1600 litres).

Engine and Gearbox

The Mercedes-Benz GLC has been launched with both diesel and petrol engines. The GLC 220d is powered by a 2,143cc four-cylinder diesel mill which can deliver 170bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. The GLC 300 petrol variant has a 1,991cc four-cylinder motor which can deliver 245bhp of power and 370Nm of torque. The engines are mated with the 9G-Tronic DCT gearbox along with the 4MATIC AWD system.

Instrument Console

The new Mercedes-Benz GLC has a huge 2-pod instrument console consisting of the speedometer, tachometer and MID. The instrument console gives you information about the average fuel consumption, instantaneous fuel consumption, average speed, door ajar warning, low fuel warning and also indicates about gear shift.

Brakes and Suspension

The GLC has a pliant suspension along with tall 60-profile tyres which makes the drive smooth for you. The refined suspension keeps the car stable even on undulating surfaces. The car comes equipped with disc brakes both at the front and the rear.

Safety Features

GLC has large number of features when it comes to safety of the driver and the passengers. It offers the active parking assist, system for monitoring tyre pressure, adaptive brake lights and attention assist. It offers seven airbags for the safety of passengers. It also has hill descent control, multiple driving modes and off-road settings which include incline, off-road and slippery.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC has been launched in two variants in India- GLC 220 d 4Matic Diesel and GLC 300 4Matic Petrol. The Mercedez Benz GlC is available in 5 colors in India: Obsidian Black , Iridium Silver, Citrine Brown, Diamond White Bright and Hyacinth Red Metallic.
