The Honda Elevate is such a good-looking compact SUV that gets the style in style thing just right without skimping on the essentials. It is not another SUV like all the others. Much like that friend who is always hanging never ever does drama no extra bling but always solid reliable cradled in a ravishing package. We’ll break down why the Elevate may be a good choice for a rider who wants both utilitarian functionality and a bit of drama on the road.

Power and Doesn’t Overwhelm

For everyday driving, Honda made the simple and effective decision to go with a 1.5-liter petrol engine on the Elevate. Even in city driving this engine has enough power to be easy on the motor without being a strain. The Elevate moves as well as it looks, I took it for a spin around busy city streets and on the highway and it handled both without a qualm. The acceleration is quicker than you need it  when you do overtake or slide firmly into that tight traffic gap. It is also fuel efficient so you are not constantly thinking, 'When's next fuel stop', which is a huge relief for daily commuters or road trip lovers like me.

Roomy Cabin with Some Nice Touches.

So let’s move on to the cabin where you are actually spending the most of your time. There is a surprising amount of space in the Elevate. Even for those of us over six feet tall, the cabin still feels roomy thanks to Honda doing a great job of that. The seats are great and very supportive they are comfy seats, and they really hold up for a long drive, all round they are awesome seats if you have the money. It took me an hour and a half to drive it one time, and I promise that I didn’t get that “driver’s backache” creeping in. The layout has everything put in its place, no mess or hype, just a straightforward functionality that keeps things simple and in reach.

Obviously of course, Honda did not miss the tech. It is a very simple infotainment setup with versions of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It is just plug in and you’re good to go. It is all super easy to access whether it is music maps or taking a call. And the sound system? That is solid and if you are like me and enjoy listening to a soundtrack to going down the road it is a solid choice.

Safety is a big one — whereby severe to the point that you are driving in varying conditions or people that you care about. The Elevate also boasts airbags, ABS, electronic stability control and Honda did not hold any punches this list is packed with essentials. Picture this, you are driving on a wet road and even though you are thinking ahead you suddenly have to apply the brakes or steer sharply in another direction. That stability control? In such moments, it is a lifesaver. I appreciate knowing that these features are built in because then I can drive a bit more confidently especially in traffic that is anything but predictable. It’s clear that Honda carefully considered what drivers need for everyday safety, and included features that make dealing with safety a little easier.

Refuel Stops - Taken Care of by Fuel Efficiency

No one likes frequent stops at the pump anymore. Fuel economy is handled fairly well by the Elevate, especially if you are sticking with the 1.5-liter engine. It does not guzzle fuel around the city and on those desolate highway runs, you are not sweating over the fuel gauge. It is refreshing to be driving a lot of SUVs and then not having to budget for every drive on fuel. It is reliable without being heavy on the tank, exactly what most of us want in a ride we will likely see on a daily basis.

The Little Details They Remember

It is those little touches that usually stick with me and Honda does that well. It is a real bonus in traffic steering is light and easy to handle. You are not fighting with it each and every time you turn. The visibility? It is fantastic. Honda also crafted the Elevate with great sightless, so there are not blind spots to be had nor does parking or lane changes become much more of a chore. And the boot space? It is got plenty of room for a compact SUV. The Elevate has all that you will need from groceries to weekend bags to random stuff that always finds its way into your car.
