The 2024 Ford Ranger has been tested with its new 2.7-liter V6 engine, which is shared with the Bronco and F-150. This engine upgrade boosts the Rangers output to 315 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, improving acceleration but not towing or payload ratings. The V6 is available on XLT and Lariat trims for $2,195. I think the extra cost might not be justified for most users, given the minimal real-world difference.

The 2024 Ford Ranger retains the EcoBoost turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. However, the new model feels punchier, possibly due to shorter first- and second-gear ratios in the 10-speed automatic transmission. The Rangers suspension has also been improved with aluminum control arms and composite helper rear leaf springs.

Ford has introduced significant updates to the 2024 Ranger, including a fully redesigned model with new interior and exterior styling, more technology features, and revised hardware. The new Ranger has a wider and longer frame, improved ground clearance, and better approach and departure angles, enhancing its off-road capabilities. I believe these changes make the Ranger more competitive in the midsize truck market.
