Datsun redi-GO

Datsun Redi-GO is the third car being launched by Datsun after the GO and the GO+. The amazing feature about this car is that it offers you space, beautiful interiors and a high driving position at a starting price of INR 2,38,900. The Redi-GO is expected to be a popular choice among the young buyers and a tough competition for the market leaders like Alto 800, the Eon and the Kwid.

Exterior

According to Datsun, Redi-GO shall be the first urban-cross being launched in India which offers blend of features of both crossover and urban hatchback. The Japanese designers have created a flowing style that makes the car appear in motion even when it is still. The Redi-GO offers a glamorous and high-class look which would definitely attract the first-time car buyers.

The Redi-GO has stunning styling features with the striking character lines rising from headlamps to tail lamps and from the front door to the tailgate. The D-cut grille, headlamps, rear lamps along with a heavy bumper add more charisma and elegance to its look. Adding to its sophistication, Datsun Redi-GO will also feature day-time LED lights. The 13-inch wheels are another reason that add to the glamor of the car.

The Redi-GO has been designed on a similar platform used for Kwid by Renault. The versatile common module family (CMF-A) platform makes the vehicle look more bold and versatile. The Japanese designers have added the faux skid-plate to the bottom which gives the vehicle a raised look.

Dimensions & Weight

The Redi-GO has been designed with an overall length, width and height of 3429mm, 1560 mm and 1541 mm respectively. It has the ground clearance of 185mm whereas the turning radius is 4.7 meters. The Redi-GO has a powerful three-cylinder petrol engine of 1.2 litres paired to 5-speed transmission with a overall weight of 760 kg.

Interior

The interior of the car would make you feel like a king driving in his own royal chariot. The interiors have been given a grey touch, be it the dashboard or the door pads or the seats, all are covered in grey. This time Datsun has come up with well shaped slabs unlike the plastic ones in the Go and Go+. There's a bold looking gloss black centre console and you can also enjoy your favorites with a USB and AUX input. Since the Redi-GO has no Bluetooth connection, so you would miss out the wireless use of your phone.

There could be some more storage space in the door-pads or another set of cup-holder. The boot space offered by Redi-GO is 222 litres which is pretty less as compared to the 300 litres by Kwid. On the other hand, the back seat of Redi-GO offers ample space for knee and head space required by three people but little less when it comes to shoulder room. The seats offer a lot of comfort due to the lumbar and under thigh support but you will not find any hand-rest or headrests at the back.

The front seats are comfortable for the drivers below 6 feet as they are narrow on the top part and cannot slide back to a greater extent. Besides many constraints, the Redi-GO beats Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 in terms of space and even to a great extent in terms of look.

Instrument Console

The Datsun Redi-GO has a beautiful analog speedometer alongside a mini digital tachometer. The fuel gauge and the odometer have also been placed in the same screen. The LED lights on the borderline would give the speedometer a glowing look while you are driving in the night.

Engine and Gearbox

The Datsun Redi-GO has a similar platform, engine, gearbox and even the engine mapping as that of the Renault Kwid. The Redi-GO has a 800cc engine which offers 53.2 BHP @ 5678 rpm of peak power along with a 72 Nm @ 4386 rpm of peak torque. This car is not meant to offer you venture thrills but to offer you fuel efficiency of around 25.17kmpl with a comfortable ride. The car has low quality NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) levels when compared to the Maruti Alto.

The Datsun Redi-GO has altogether different suspension setup as compared to the Renault Kwid. The H-shaped beam setup for the rear suspension adds uniqueness to the car. The steering wheel is not as good as the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and it make even take extra time and effort when it comes to steering return ability. You may even have to face a hard time with brakes as they need a harder push to be applied. But don't push them too hard as they might get locked up due to lack of any ABS variant.

Comfort and Safety

The Datsun Redi-GO has features like crumple zones and single airbag on the top-of-the-line variant which itself says of its safety and comfort. It offers front and rear seat belts for safety on the road. The vehicle has manual central locking system and child protection locking system as well. There is enough space and comfort offered by the car to enjoy your drive on the road.

Datsun Redi-GO is a perfect car for a beginner due to its light clutch and the gearshifts along with a brilliant visibility and ease of parking.
