The first Veyron prototype was unveiled on road in August 2003 and due to some technical difficulties it was put into production on September 2005. The Veyron was named after the French racer Pierre Veyron (1903-1970) who drove Bugatti. The chief designer of Bugatti Veyron was Hartmut Warkuss. The Bugatti Veyron Grand Vitesse sets the world record for the fastest roadster in the world on 6th April 2013 with a top speed of 408.84 kmph. It is available in four variants named Veyron, Veyron Grand Sport, Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse and Veyron Super Sport.

These models of Bugatti measures 4462mm in length, 1998mm in width, 1204mm in height (1159mm in case of Bugatti Veyron) with the wheel base of 2710mm. It has a 8.0-liter W16, quad-turbocharged petrol engine that makes 7998cc of displacement. The base variant Veyron generates 987 bhp at 6000 rpm and the maximum torque of 1250 Nm at 2200 rpm. The Veyron Grand Sport generates 1001 bhp at 6000 rpm and 1250 Nm at 2200 rpm while the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse and Veyron Super Sport makes 1200 bhp at 6400 rpm generating 1500 Nm of torque at 3000 rpm. It has 7-speed DSG (direct sift gearbox) transmission with magnesium paddle behind the steering wheel and a shift time of less than 150 milliseconds. It can be driven either on semi-automatic mode or fully automatic mode.

With the anti-lock braking system (ABS) the front brakes are ventilated disc measuring 400mm while the disc brakes of size 380mm are used in rear wheels. The brakes are made up from ceramic, high-tech carbon & titanium material that has maximum cooling and high friction values. The kerb weight of the Veyron varies between 1888kg to 1990kg for different variants. To minimize the weight of Veyron various lightweight materials are used such as aluminium (in doors, engine block, wings, gearbox housing, front and rear crash frames), magnesium (in engine cover and inter-cooler covers), titanium, carbon fiber etc. It has a fuel tank capacity of 100 litres. The Veyron Super Sport and Grand Sport Vitesse models give an average mileage of 1.5 kmpl (in city) and 2.5 kmpl (on highways). The Veyron and Veyron Grand give an average mileage of 2 kmpl (in city) and 3.5 kmpl (on highways). It takes Veyron just 2.5seconds to reach a mark of 100kmph with a top speed of 408kmpl for base models and 415 for higher end models.

The Bugatti Veyron has ten radiators in total from which three are used by the engine. For a car this fast safety is a necessity. So the Veyron is equipped with eight airbags and ABS with TCS (traction control system) that keeps the vehicle on ground while speeding and sturdy when braking. This car is full of features like PDC (Parking Distance Control system) integrated in the front and rear, EBD (electronic brake distribution), ESP (electronic stability program). This speedster is equipped with the top class AC that supports dual zone climate control. The steering wheel allows rake and reach adjustments so that the comfortable driving position can be attained. It is an all-wheel drive vehicle that uses Haldex Traction system. All the windows of Veyron are electrically powered. The rear spoiler acts above the speed of 200kmph and provides air braking for the Veyron.

It is especially developed on carbon monocoque construction that provides maximum protection. The front end is characterized for large air intakes for cooling and braking purposes. The tyres of the Veyron are Michelin PAX run-flat tyres that are especially designed to support the high speed of car. The doors are opened sideways having body colored handle. The music system is integrated into the dashboard. The interiors of Veyron are customizable through a function called configurator available in the company website. All the variants of Veyron are available in red white, black and silver colors only. The ex-showroom price of Bugatti Veyron in Delhi ranges between 13.6 crore to 26 crore depending upon the variant and customizable options (may vary).
